Workers’ Rights Advocate and Organizer!  30 Hours

The Brazilian Women’s Group (BWG) is a 29-year-old community-based organization whose Mission is to promote political and cultural awareness, aiming at Brazilian immigrants’ development and self-sufficiency.

BWG is seeking a Workers’ Rights Organizer.  This person will lead the BWG Worker’s Rights Project which is aimed at organizing workers to confront and denounce workplace abuses in the Brazilian  community in Massachusetts.

This is a 30 hours/week position with the potential to be increased to 35/40 hours/week depending on the organizer’s experience. The organizer will be responsible for conducting in-takes, following up on cases, doing outreach, negotiating wages and overtime,  being a liaison to attorneys, and supporting workers organizing against abusive employers.  The workers’ rights organizer will also be responsible for organizing professional and leadership development opportunities for workers, and work closely with workers’ centers and the National Domestic Workers’ Alliance.


  • Community or labor organizing experience
  • Bilingual Portuguese/English- excellent writing and speaking skills . Other languages a plus
  • Cultural competency 
  • Computer literate: MS Office, PowerPoint, familiarity with multimedia, and with use of the internet and social media.  Ideally capable with Gmail and Google Docs. 
  • Independently motivated, with an ability to work in a team.  
  • Able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends. This position occasionally requires travel.

Position to start immediately. Two-week training required (paid).  

Salary starts at $39,000 and increases based on experience.
